The surface and underground stations are essentially the
same. Both use recirculation loops to monitor the emulsion
concentration when NOT in dosing mode and correct the
concentration in this mode when it is wrong. However, on
the surface station we have more room and we can install
"Smart" options like flow ratio cross checking, pH and
conductivity analysers etc. Additionally, we can make the
pipe-work larger to provide extra make-up capacity for say,
two longwalls. The surface station can also be supplied
with a booster pump and flow meter that controls the
head-pressure to the underground emulsion supply line.

Various alarm states are also available including no water
flow, no oil flow and concentration deviation. Specify your
requirements when talking with Precision Light & Air.

UNDERGROUND STATION
The underground station is extremely robust. It can be
fitted with all the features of the surface station, however
space needs to be provided to allow this additional
equipment to fit and be able to be worked on. The standard
underground station has two basic modes of operation,
dosing and recirculation / remedial mode. This would be
the minimum functionality of a SmartDose.
