The Alumina industry needs no introduction to Toroidal Conductivity measurements. The AL-6340 is no different in measurement design to most Toroidal or “doughnut” sensors you will have used in the past.
The core of the sensor is encased in a specially designed ceramic outer to provide absolute wear resistance from “white” and “red” side alumina processes. The AL-6340 from Precision Light and Air has been specifically designed for Alumina and like slurries where PEEK, Teflon and Epoxy bodies suffer from erosion and subsequent frequent, expensive replacements.
It allows the user to install the sensor directly in the main process pipe eliminating the need for costly high maintenance side streams and sample lines. For sometime small bore so called “flow-through” ceramic conductivity sensors have been used in side streams. Now, with the AL-6340, you can get an accurate, stable and repeatable measurement of conductivity in any process line size, with almost any velocity.
EROSION RESISTANCE The AL-6340 is made using a steel sensor body with a PSZ ceramic core. The steel body can erode away without any effects on the measurement. During times of low flow, scale can build up on the sensor. You simply remove the sensor, de-scale it and return it to service. Under normal process flow, the probe should happily erode away with no cause to maintain the device until it fails. Life expectancy of the sensor about 2 years.
